Today’s older adults expect a broad range of programs, services and educational opportunities. Primeplus Senior Center (formerly Norfolk Senior Center) classes and activities are designed to be responsive to the needs of the community and will change as the community changes, maintaining a focus on quality, cooperation and coordination.

Arts & Crafts

ART - BASIC PAINTING
Fridays 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Practice basic acrylic painting skills on canvas with an experienced instructor. No painting experience required. Participants provide their own basic supplies. Pre-registration and payment required.
 
ART - INTERMEDIATE PAINTING
ON CANVAS
Tuesdays 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Expand your creative ability with an experienced instructor. Bring standard supplies and an 11X14 stretched canvas. Sign up for classes early. Pre-registration and payment required.

ART FRAMES
Made to order picture frames made by Ed Bunker, Woodworking Manager. Prices are modest and depend on frame size.

BEGINNING DRAWING -
EVERYONE CAN DRAW!

Dates to be Announced
You can begin drawing at any age and no inborn talent is needed. Gain a new skill and a fun way to express you with an award winning instructor; supply list available at registration.

CRAFT CLUB
Last Friday of the month
Join this group and have fun learning and creating a variety of crafts. The group leader will work with participants on a new project every month. Interested participants should call to sign up in advance. Activity fee applies.

ORIENTAL BRUSH PAINTING
Thursdays

This 4 week class provides simple brush strokes with ink and paper in the oriental style. The instructor has won awards at national and international exhibits. Class supplies include: 11 x 14 Newsprint pad. Pre-registration required.

BEADING WORKSHOP
Create beautiful beaded necklace or bracelet.

 




CERAMIC WINE CHILLER CLASS

Glaze, sponge and stamp design onto a bisque ceramic wine cooler caddy.

MIXED MEDIA COLLAGE CLASS
Create a themed mixed media collage on 11x14 canvas board with instructor Jeanette Thorpe.

ROSE J. CAPLAN CERAMICS STUDIO

Wednesdays Open Studio

Create beautiful designs by glazing and staining with instructor Jeanette Thorpe. RATES: Monthly, Weekly and Daily. Fees are due prior to attending class.
 
CLAY - HAND BUILDING
1st & 3rd Fridays of each month 12:00 - 2:00 p.m.

Instructor Kathy Thumm will demonstrats basic pottery hand building techniques.

POTTERY - OPEN STUDIO
Tuesdays & Fridays
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

For those with experience using the wheel, you can sign up to use the studio space. Participants must provide their own supplies. Firing fee plus donation accepted.

QUILTING & SEWING
1st & 3rd Thursday
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

This group meets every month. Bring any hand work, such as sewing, embroidery, or knitting, and join in the friendship and learning that occurs in this social setting.

WOODWORKING STUDIO

WOODCARVING
Wednesdays 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Come and enjoy the experience of woodcarving and create beautiful handcrafted designs. New and advanced carvers welcome. Learn to carve birds or do chip carving. Donation only.

Join Ed Bunker as he provides instruction in a variety of woodworking skills and in the proper use of operating equipment safely. You provide your material; we provide the facility & fun. Facility fee required.
